A community of UpStanders
Friendship is the
intervention.
Just humans. Helping humans.
We meet people where they are — regardless of race, status, gender, or belief — and we walk with them. Not as helpers and helped, but as neighbors learning to lift each other up.
Someone who chooses to be present for another person — consistently, honestly, on equal footing. Not a bystander. Not a savior. A friend.
The Friend Foundation exists to build the conditions where that showing-up becomes ordinary. We train UpStanders. We create the spaces where they can show up. And we keep showing up alongside them.
Read our storyOur work is grounded in the growing body of research on social connection and wellbeing — including peer-reviewed findings from Frontiers in Psychology and Innovation in Aging. We don't think of friendship as soft. We think of it as one of the most evidence-backed health interventions a community can make.
Five programs. One practice.
Each of our programs is a different shape of the same thing: consistent, structured presence in people's lives.

EducationFriendship Academy

Friendship scales when people show up.
